Automatic dial telegraph
In 1847 Werner Siemens developed an automatic dial telegraph. This was of fundamentally improved design, no longer working in the manner of a clock but making use of a Wagner-Neef hammer to maintain an electrically controlled synchronism between transmitter and receiver.
Halske's enthusiasm for the dial telegraph led them to form a partnership in 1847, thus producing a "primordial cell" of the present Siemens AG: the Siemens & Halske Telegraph Construction Company, with headquarters in Schoneberger Strasse in Berlin.
