Public celebrations and events
march:
launch of a literary competition "Parole in corso" open to employees/co-workers of the Italian companies bearing the name Siemens. The call for applications/regulations will be published in the special company magazine, "Siemens in Italia".
The competition jury is chaired by Carlo Castellaneta and includes other authoritative names in the world of culture such as Valerio Adami, Bruno Gambarotta, Roberto Mussapi, Ottavia Piccolo and Siemens S.p.A. personnel and communications executives.
The competition is divided into four categories (narrative, poetry, humour and invention) and the texts must be inspired by the Siemens world, history, climate, daily working life, anecdotes, fantasy and the future.
Texts must be delivered to the awards secretariat by 15 September 1999.
From the works submitted the jury will select three winners in each category.
may: "Festival Siemens", an event dedicated to Italian clients and organised in conjunction with the 1999 version of INTEL- fiera Internazionale Elettrotecnica ed Elettronica (International Electrotechnics and Electronics Exhibition).
Three evenings of shows and entertainment will be set up and created by the theatre "Teatro della Tosse" in Genoa, under the direction of Tonino Conte and with scenery by Emanuele Luzzati.
Around 600 guests will be invited each evening to see mime artists, actors, and tightrope walkers on a theatrical tour based on the theme of technological innovation. The entire show is based in and outside the Siemens premises in Progetto Bicocca.
june: re-issue of the modern version of Ballo Excelsior, late 19th century allegorical choreographic show on the triumph of progress that will be performed June 16th at the Teatro Eliseo in Rome, in memory and celebration of the first Siemens operation in Italy; the illumination of Piazza del Popolo.
september: : family day entirely dedicated to Siemens employees and their families. Shows and animation of various groups of musicians and street artists
will be set up September 18th in the Werner Von Siemens square behind the
new Milan Bicocca headquarters. Those taking part can sample gastronomic
specialties and will receive tickets to attend an evening performance of
Teo Teocoli, which will be held exclusively for Siemens at the FilaForum in
Assago (Milan).
november/december: official award's ceremony for the literary competition, with the declaration of the winners and distribution of prizes, to take place in the Siemens forum of Milan, with the attendance of the jury and company management.
